Robert Parks received graduate training in Systematic and Historical Theology as well
as the Theology of the Early Church (Patrisitics). At the University of Dayton, his
doctoral dissertation on the Theological Anthropology of St. Augustine of Hippo was
particularly concerned with questions about what it means for humans to be created
equally in God鈥檚 image and redeemed equally by Jesus Christ.
His research interests include early African Christianity; the Latin (or Western)
Fathers of the Church, especially Augustine; the Trinitarian Theology of St. Gregory
of Nazianzus; the Theology of the first seven Christian (Ecumenical) Councils; care
for the environment as an ancient Christian concern.
At Ohio Dominican, Dr. Parks teaches introductory courses in Theology and World Religions
at the undergraduate level as well as advanced courses in Systematic and Historical
Theology at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Parks holds memberships in the North American Patristics Society and the American
Academy of Religion. He is also active with an international working group of scholars
of Religion, Medicine, Disability and Health (ReMeDHe), and he supports the multi-faceted
mission of the Center for Early African Christianity.
